Unpacking Your Character Question 1 - #NaNoWriMo Writing Prompt

In honor of NaNoWriMo, we are offering writing prompts for the month of November.

What is the worst, most terrifying or awful event in your character's life?

How does it inform how they think and respond in the journey you send them on?

  1. It's 1838 in a small town in Illinois. Today, my character will be having bullet fragments removed from the infected wound in her shoulder. It's going to hurt...I feel guilty for giving her this much pain.

  2. Torturing your characters is your job. LOL.

  3. Death of her husband is her worst nightmare--until his good-for-nothing brother shows up and stakes a claim on the family business. His irritating presence coupled with her obligatory (and unwanted) transition to that business from her prestigious PR job at a local hospital create a year she never imagined nor desired. Most surprising is the journey that leads her from the depths of her despair to a life beyond her wildest dreams.
