I like to see some variety in characters, especially stepping away from stereotypical "good" looks. Character traits and behaviors can be bigger turn-ons than looks.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Diana about the value of appearance. Kindness, empathy, and other redeeming qualities trump good looks every time.
ReplyDeleteThis can be a good way to unMary-Sue a character: having what the character finds attractive be completely different to what the author likes.
