I'm reading a book right now where the author is dancing on the edge, but it's perfect for the kind of book. Any further and I probably wouldn't continue reading (and I'm not really a prude).Brianna Soloskihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08663188011029476486noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5704943052235281766.post-62421925778252462472012-02-17T14:15:10.704-07:002012-02-17T14:15:10.704-07:00If it's making love, then it's more an exc...If it's making love, then it's more an exchange of emotions. If it's lust, yes, I expect it to be more graphic. I'm one of the readers who prefer sweet romances over spicy. If the author has done a good job building up to the couple making love, it's a relief that they're finally at it, but I don't really need every little detail of how they do it.

Morgan Mandel
http://morganmandel.blogspot.comMorgan Mandelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10118929301591850918noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5704943052235281766.post-85935314840122406152012-02-17T13:16:49.057-07:002012-02-17T13:16:49.057-07:00This comment has been removed by the author.Linda Lanehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06686488133905538811noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5704943052235281766.post-62168908476199180262012-02-17T13:16:21.908-07:002012-02-17T13:16:21.908-07:00I, too, do not write sex scenes. Elspeth said it well when she noted it's the emotions that count. As a reader as well as a writer,I find that implication rather than graphic detail works best for me. Great advice, and probably why I don't like some graphic sex scenes and definitely don't care for erotica.

Christopher, this is very similar to Susan's post, but from a different genre and perspective. I think it is a good complement to what we read on Wednesday.

I'm leaving Kathryn's comment alone. Worst case scenario, the workshop leader holds it up and says, "Now here's what not to do..."

2) That's what sex needs--hard and fast rules, lol!

3) I'm the same way re: love and lust.
