Audrey Lintner Hit the Send Key For The Blood Red Pencil: A Tasty Collection of Short Stories

CONTINUING SERIES - 18 Stories! 15 Authors! Talk About A Project!

The Corner Cafe: A Tasty Collection of Short Stories is riding high in sales, after a spectacular performance at its first freebie weekend on June 9 and June 10, 2012.

The book is ready, but the work's not over. Dani Greer, owner of The Blood-Red Pencil, along with Morgan Mandel, Helen Ginger, Maryann Miller, Shonell Bacon, and Audrey Lintner, all contributors to the collection and members of The Blood-Red Pencil, are sharing our ongoing experiences with you about the project in this series. Perhaps, what we've discovered will aid you in your own endeavors.

Today, Audrey Lintner, our Style Maven, shares her views on the project. Her contribution is the short story, "The Consequences of Breaking and Entering," in which Goldilocks gets an update and her comeuppance. Connect with Audrey Lintner Here on her Amazon Author page.

1) What surprised you about this endeavor?
I think the thing that surprised me the most was actually being included! I've long thought of myself as a Writer, rather than an Author. A feeling of, "Wow, these guys all have real books!"

2) What seemed the most difficult?
Hitting the 'send' key. I've been writing columns for six years; a story should be no big deal, right? Wrong! A column may be your voice, but stories are your soul. How can you not be afraid to bare that?

3) What proved the most satisfying?
Calling my aunt in Michigan and telling her about the book and its rankings. I got to hear the happy in her voice.

4) What did you learn?
Aside from the fact that publishing can be a pain in the kiester? I learned, or rather relearned, that even a solo effort needs a support group.

5) Would you do it again?
Absolutely.

Thanks, Audrey.

  1. Audrey, after working with you here for a while now, it's nice to see what you look like! Congratulations on having your short story published!

  2. Enjoyed getting to know a bit about you, Audrey. It has been fun working with all the different authors on this project. I never thought of the difference between a writer and an author, but it makes sense. I spent many years as a writer - journalist - and later became an author.

  3. First time out of the gate is hard, Audrey. And like you, I'd do it again. Having a good team makes it much less scary.
